While it isn’t a beautiful and unified suite of features, that’s exactly what gives it a vibe and an energy that people are drawn to.

CrushOn AI enables you to create custom AI characters with personality and scenario writing, profile cards, pins and summaries to maintain memory, and group chats with several characters at once. As a platform built for and around text-based, roleplay-focused interaction, it’s where it shines the most.
It supports images and has image cards that act as scenes and character uploads. It does allow for hidden image unlocks during conversation in a similar style to other apps, though in their very own beta format.
Voice functionality is primarily a voice reading feature, rather than a native voice chat or call experience, and I haven’t found a dedicated NSFW image or video generator or feature comparable to the ones seen in Candy AI, OurDream, Promptchan, and Seduced AI.

Candy AI comes across as the all-rounder, having a bit of everything in place. It seems like it was made to be easy to use rather than just effective, which is great because anyone trying an AI partner will already be a bit shy when getting started with them.
It has a smoother, pick-companion to customize to chat to generate media experience than CrushOn AI. Less chaos of the role-playing community, more vibes of having a virtual partner you made yourself.
What are the core features of Candy AI?
Candy AI allows you to create your own AI companion, chat with it, send and receive images, voice, and video messages, and more. You can decide what your AI partner looks like, what personality they have, their hobbies, voice, and more, and the general way you and they will communicate. And then you can also use those media features to help make the AI partner more like a real person.
And also more privacy, including encrypted transactions, hidden billing, and all that. You may have never heard about such things before, but you should, and they can make a big difference.
Strengths Over CrushOn AI
Candy AI stands out when you’re after a ready-made companion suite with minimal onboarding. While CrushOn AI offers more variety in roleplay scenarios, Candy AI provides a smoother experience for those looking to engage in chatting, visualizing, voice interaction, and video within a single, seamless environment.
Candy AI also presents a lower learning curve. In a comparison of the two, Candy AI would be simpler to describe to a first-time user of AI companions.
Candy AI’s Weaknesses
Candy AI’s limitations are perhaps best described as less flexible. If your primary interests are interacting with community characters, partaking in group roleplay sessions, or engaging in complex, custom scenarios, Candy AI is likely not the best option. It’s polished and well-maintained, but that doesn’t mean there aren’t fewer hidden nooks to discover.
It also seems more of a polished, standalone “companion app” rather than a community-driven sandbox. If you’re looking for a vast array of quirky characters and roleplays, Candy AI doesn’t seem quite so compelling.

2. MyDreamCompanion
MyDreamCompanion feels a bit more personal than CrushOn AI. It doesn’t start out as an enormous roleplay library; it seems geared toward constructing a more “real” AI companion and keeping that consistency personal to me.
This is a different flavor of the genre. CrushOn AI is the site I use when I need scenario variety. MyDreamCompanion is where I’m headed when I need a certain character to feel like an ongoing familiar one.

MyDreamCompanion offers custom AI companions, NSFW chat, realistic character behavior, memory, roleplay, and image generation. The platform pitches its value in the “companions who feel and look more real” and “emotional-continuity” angles.
It is also much more image-focused than CrushOn AI. MyDreamCompanion appears to have a more consistent companion theme than the other app. The app seems more designed for a consistent companion than endless character-browsing.

Users who want their fantasy relationship to feel a bit more realistic will probably appreciate MyDreamCompanion over CrushOn AI.

What are the limitations of MyDreamCompanion?
MyDreamCompanion may not be as equipped as CrushOn AI to serve up the widest variety of AI characters for you to roleplay with. While the concept of a single AI love interest sounds great, it feels somewhat like a toy box that’s been reduced to one single item.
The platform’s stance on voice or video interaction is also less defined than those of other AI chatbots such as Candy AI, OurDream, or Promptchan.

OurDream presents itself as the all-rounder of the bunch. Having tested it out, my initial impression was, “This character is certainly not shy about what they’re offering,” because in addition to character customization, it covers chat, image and video generation, voice capabilities, memory, and public character exploration.
In comparison with CrushOn AI, OurDream seems more like a total adult partner app; for CrushOn, it is a roleplaying place. OurDream is the tavern as well as the stage, the studio booth and even a (virtual) video studio.
OurDream’s key features?
OurDream gives you the opportunity to create your own AI boyfriend and girlfriend or custom characters, and then you can define how they look like what they act, their backstories, voices and more styles. The app offers the same NSFW chat option as CrushOn.

I feel that OurDream is a bit more feature-heavy than some users need. If you just want to use our AI character builder for chatting and roleplay, then all the media and credit options can feel like overkill. It also feels less community-driven than CrushOn AI, which you might consider a good thing or a bad thing, depending on your mood.

This website shines in the roleplay freedom category, where it doesn’t feel quite as heavy into media (like Candy AI or OurDream) and more like it caters to someone that loves character-driven chatting and privacy.
What it does better than CrushOn AI
For people who seek a more specific AI girlfriend experience rather than a general character roleplaying website, GirlfriendGPT might be the superior option for them. What are the limitations of the GirlfriendGPT
GirlfriendGPT, in contrast to Candy AI, OurDream, Seduced AI, or Promptchan, is not nearly as transparent as an all-in-one image and video site. If you are primarily trying to make images and video, I would not rank this near the top of the list.
GirlfriendGPT also lacks the creator-ecosystem of CrushOn AI with their detailed guides, and also a wiki-style support system. CrushOn AI might be better for the person who likes to take their time and craft their character.
5. Seduced AI
Seduced AI is not actually fighting for space in the emotional companion market alongside CrushOn AI. They are upfront: this is an AI porn tool not a girlfriend AI. That’s pretty nice in a way.

It’s what I’d use when creating characters in different styles. Not exactly subtle, but a blast.

Promptchan is an AI girlfriend image, voice, video generation, roleplay chat app and character creator that supports anime, cinematic and art styles.
Similar to CrushOn AI, its main focus is the chat roleplay and companion experience though it is a more media app.
You describe your request, generate images, design characters and then chat/roleplay with your AI companion.
Things where Promptchan beats CrushOn AI
Promptchan excels when it comes to images and videos. CrushOn AI has better roleplay tools, but Promptchan wins when it comes to visuals.
It also does better with voice and mobile companion. If I wanted an AI girlfriend app that was multimedia-based from the start, Promptchan would be more appealing.
The downsides of Promptchan
Promptchan feels less developed for longer-form character writing and community-based roleplay. It’s built to do chat, but the visual generator is obviously where Promptchan shines.
There’s also a bit of trial and error with the Promptchan prompts. If you want to spend time dialing the styles in and playing with them, you’ll be good. If you just want something to chat with, CrushOn AI is probably more user-friendly.
This Is For You
- If you desire variety in roleplay. CrushOn AI is one of the best places to start. It feels like it’s centered more on characters, plotlines, and casual interaction than it is a nice addition to an already great piece of media.
- If you are looking for a full-blown partner. Candy AI and OurDream are stronger. They bring chat, image, voice, and video much closer together, so overall the package feels more cohesive.
- If you are looking for images. Promptchan, Seduced AI, OurDream and Candy AI make more sense than CrushOn AI. CrushOn AI does have some visual features, but it’s not primarily an image creator.
- If video is important to you. I wouldn’t look at CrushOn AI first. OurDream, Candy AI, Seduced AI, and Promptchan all make more sense in terms of video functionality.
- If voice is a priority. CrushOn AI has a voice read-aloud that helps the immersion, but I’d likely look at Candy AI, OurDream or Promptchan if voice was an important piece for you.
- If you are looking to get in on it without a lot of work. Candy AI is likely more intuitive when starting from scratch. CrushOn AI may be easier to have fun with once you figure out your niche, however it has a more maker-creativity community that takes a moment to get used to.
Mini methodology
How I tested I used each service the way a regular person would. This involved trying out character generation, testing the conversational flow, trying out media features, evaluating claims about voice and video, and assessing how smoothly it would take someone from “wow this is cool” to “this is actually usable.”
What matters to me Conversational quality, roleplay flexibility, how customizable an AI feels, if the product offers NSFW features, quality of images, video, and voice output, number of models supported, and the degree to which there is friction in using the platform.
What I don’t care about Small price variances, and fluff claims that sound great but don’t make any tangible difference to end users.
Conclusion
Candy AI is my favorite because it’s compatible with the largest group of people. It’s beautifully designed, user-friendly, and provides all the important features of a companion chat without having to go through the equivalent of a rocket launch experience for first-timers.
CrushOn AI is a good option, too, especially if you’re interested in playing characters. Its customization options with customizable characters, memory, and chat history, plus multi-character chats and community character content are ideal for those who prefer text-oriented roleplaying to more high-polish services.
Next, OurDream. If you want maximum functionality from your app, OurDream is the way to go. It includes all of the most important features, including chat, pictures, videos, audio, and custom characters, into one app.
So my conclusion is simple: Candy AI is the best all-in-one option, CrushOn AI is the most flexible roleplaying option, and OurDream is the best way to get all of your AI partner needs from a single app. That’s my compass. You don’t need one.
