Deepmode AI Alternatives That Are Actually Worth Trying
It seems only fair to try out all of these apps before drawing any conclusions, because their distinct characters only start to manifest once you’ve played around with them a bit. A few are meant to be your friend, a few are more like your visual art studio, and a few more are basically: “here’s a chat box, give me your prompt.”
Basically, this is my human to human comparison test, no lawsuits needed. My goal here was to open up all of the apps and ask: “Okay, but would I actually use this app twice? Is this a nice or annoying experience, does it get my money well or does it take up my credits unnecessarily, etc.”
This summary should help you find the app that best suits you and understand Deepmode AI in the context of these apps’ feature sets. (Oh, and as a little sneak peek: Candy AI is likely the best choice for many users, and OurDream seems more about “give me everything” for the most part.)

What is Deepmode AI
It’s clear Deepmode AI is made for character consistency, rather than “pretty image goes brrr”, the idea is to make the character you create in Deepmode AI the same character in multiple images and videos, and for a while now it’s done this well.
It’s generally a bit more of a maker’s tool, not exactly the cuddly personal diary-style companion, rather it feels like your own private creative studio: you make an AI character (or clone, model, etc.) which can be used as a consistent image reference. If you’re keen for interaction, chat can then be provided via Clonella.
What are the Deepmode AI core features
Deepmode AI has the ability to create custom AI models, image generation with no public gallery, reference image remixing, facial expression edits, and video creation.
Clonella can create custom AI chat characters with unique personalities, custom image generation to use in the chat window, memory, and it can import some Deepmode AI models for conversational interaction.
The option to have NSFW material is part of the selling point for Deepmode AI, useful to have if you want something that doesn’t get blocked or pixelated as much as it’s often the case in mainstream AI generation apps.
It’s also important to note I wasn’t able to verify the depth of voice generation in Deepmode AI, it certainly isn’t in my list of AI chat apps best at voice interaction (but it certainly could be a strong AI chat app for character consistency and for AI image & video creation).
What Deepmode AI does better than its alternatives
The main thing I’d say Deepmode AI does better than the alternatives is maintain character consistency. It feels obvious at first, until you use tools where a character’s face morphs every third generation. With Deepmode, you don’t have to worry about that.
It’s built around character stability, which makes it more suitable for creators, visual storytelling, AI influencer experiments, and anyone trying to build a usable AI model.
I also find Deepmode to feel less messy compared to the more media-first focused tools. Seduced AI is more robust if you’re just looking for adult image/video control, but Deepmode just feels more flexible in terms of “create character, repeat with character.”
Compared to companion chatbot apps, Deepmode is more of a tool for getting output vs a platform for having conversations. Candy AI may be a better experience if you want to chat and generate a simple image quickly.
But Deepmode is what you want if you’re trying to produce actual usable media. Very “I came here with a folder structure,” which, annoyingly, I respect.
1. Candy AI
Candy AI is the place I recommend to anyone who’s tired of feeling like getting set up is like doing homework. It presents with that polished AI girlfriend vibe you’d expect, but it also manages to feel genuinely user-friendly.
Most impressive is the transition from character selection to actual chatting. You spend less time setting up, which is great if you’ve just spent the last four hours debating the differences between twelve different almond milk brands.
What are the Candy AI core features?
Candy AI focuses on AI companion chat, making your own AI girlfriend, selecting from preset realistic characters, generating images, creating AI videos, and enabling voice chat. Privacy is also a major selling point, as is the discreet billing model and the token/subscription combo.
The main appeal is the companion chat feature. Once you pick a character, or build one, the next step is to chat, request images, use voice, or jump into a video if you want extra immersion. It’s not the most techy creator app on the list, but it feels refined where casual users care about.
So, what is it better than Deepmode AI?
Candy AI wins in being easy and emotional. It’s just more user-friendly. If I want a companion experience and I don’t need to train a model, import, create a new workflow, or learn anything at all, I would pick Candy AI. I think this one is better on voice as well.

What are the problems with the Candy AI?
It can feel less creator-controlled than Deepmode AI. If I was building a consistent visual brand in a long-term project I would feel more comfortable with Deepmode AI. Also, the credits can feel like the meter when taking a taxi. I would definitely keep an eye on this before I start pumping it full of images, videos, and calls.
2. OurDream
OurDream is probably the most feature-packed of the bunch. I tried it out and it felt like, “Yep, they’ve gone and packed everything in.” There’s chat, character building, image gen, video, voice calling, audio messages, memory, Dreamcoins. All that good stuff.
It’s got a kind of maximalist feel compared to Candy AI, which tends to just invite you in, “Here, sit. Relax.” OurDream is more like, “Here, sit. Here are seventeen dials, good luck.” Somehow, I got lucky.
What are OurDreams core features
OurDreams lets you create an AI companion, set your characters appearance with detailed controls, decide your relationships and personality, give them a custom prompt, add a voice, chat with them, see NSFW images, generate videos, do voice calling, audio messages, have memory, use Dreamcoins to pay for media and some other things too.
One of the more attractive things about OurDreams, its character creation tool seems much more robust than the competition. OurDreams encourages you to build the character before you start the relationship. It does not just let you pick a random template and hope your characters vibes align with your own.
What makes OurDream stand out from Deepmode AI
OurDream is better if you need an all-in-one relationship simulator playground. Though Deepmode AI will win out for clone-precision and creator visuals, OurDream packs a wider variety of relationship simulator features.
It is also better if you want chat or audio to matter as much as still photos or video. If I was trying to find one tool where I could create, chat, generate, and just generally experiment all in one place, OurDream would be one of my first destinations.

What are the disadvantages of OurDream
OurDream has more moving parts, and with that, comes more math around coins. Not necessarily fatal, just a little “wait…what costs what, again?”
OurDream could also feel overwhelming to someone that wants just one smooth process. Deepmode AI feels a more defined creator focus. OurDream feels larger, but that can lead to wandering around in socks looking for the kitchen.
3. MyDreamCompanion
MyDreamCompanion has established a strong position. They’re very into realism, memory, and NSFW play. My sense is that it’s more of a place to find a long-term visual and conversational partner, rather than a place to make things. The voice is a little more direct, even a little aggressive.
The product is clearly described as “make” or “adopt” a companion, chat to each other, continue the chat, make pictures, keep likeness. The main features are as listed on the website:

Images yes, no word on voice/video. The focus is on the companion, not the creation studio. It seems best suited to: chat, and build a character who won’t change each session.
MyDreamCompanion is great at a few things Deepmode AI isn’t as good at.
Deepmode AI is definitely the better AI girlfriend chatbot to use if I wanted to generate a model. On the other hand, MyDreamCompanion is the best one to use when I want the chat experience to be the main attraction.
It really doubles down on memory and realism, which can help to make the companion feel a little less disposable. This could be a big thing for users who care more about the roleplay aspect and have less of a focus on content creation. Read more about it in my full review of MyDreamCompanion.
MyDreamCompanion’s Weaknesses
It doesn’t quite feel as diverse as Deepmode AI when it comes to content types. There are better choices of AI companion sites for video generation or voice content in particular.
Additionally, it feels a bit less flexible than OurDream or Candy AI. That’s not always a problem; at times it is actually a plus to be a bit more restrained. Still, if you want a more expansive multimodal sandbox, MyDreamCompanion can feel a little limiting.
4. Seduced AI
Seduced AI has no illusions about being your loving AI girlfriend. It basically says, “My role here is adult image and video generation,” which earns my respect.
Using Seduced AI feels more like using an adult content generation app than a girlfriend app, with far less fluff surrounding it. You come in, and decide what models, styles, extensions, images, video, edits, and outputs you need. Very direct. No chit-chat from a toaster.
Key features of Seduced AI
Seduced AI specializes in NSFW image generation, NSFW video generation, reusable characters, adult content extensions, image and video editing, upscale, text-to-video, image-to-video, video extension, audio-supported animation, and an array of visual styles that range from photorealistic to anime.
It is one of the most capable tools here for visual NSFW control, but it is not an AI girlfriend chat platform like Candy AI, OurDream, MyDreamCompanion, and GirlfriendGPT.
Seduced AI vs Deepmode AI. Where Seduced AI wins
Seduced AI will be a better fit when you just need to make adult media with a lot of fine-tuned control. The extension library and custom models have a sense of being purpose-built.
If I’m making a pure comparison around NSFW images and videos, Seduced AI could find itself right near the top. The interface feels less cozy, but also very purpose-focused.
The limitations of Seduced AI
The big problem is companion depth. If you’re looking for emotional conversation or a phone call or just a relationship simulation, you’d be wrong to start with Seduced AI.
It also feels more tool than toy. You’d want it when you know exactly what you’re trying to make. Less great when you want someone to talk to because you had an unfortunate Tuesday.
5. GirlfriendGPT
GirlfriendGPT is a giant roleplay sandbox with a big NSFW vibe. There’s a lot of variety at first glance. Many different scenarios. Many character types. Many “oh, you can have [this specific] type of scenario, huh?”
It’s a bit more text and roleplay focused than Deepmode AI. I’d compare it more to MyDreamCompanion than Seduced AI, although GirlfriendGPT is probably more community-character and chat-library based.
What are the main GirlfriendGPT features
GirlfriendGPT has custom AI boyfriend and AI girlfriend creation, NSFW chat, roleplay, community characters, AI selfies, NSFW image generation, voice chat, custom personality and behavior, and broad scenario selection.
The core focus is mostly chat-based with a lot of freedom and character options. You can also make or edit photos for your roleplay scenes, but GirlfriendGPT’s primary niche is still “pick a character or make one and start chatting.”
Strengths Compared to Deepmode AI
GirlfriendGPT excels if you want to have variety of NSFW Roleplay quickly. For this Deepmode AI is stronger on consistency of visuals and creator workflows but GirlfriendGPT gets you in the conversations easier.
It also feels like it’s more open to browsing different kinds of characters. If you easily get bored of one particular setup and want to flip to the next, GirlfriendGPT has this chaotic menu type feel.
Weaknesses of the GirlfriendGPT
The downside is that it sometimes feels less refined than those with tighter companion. Big variety is good, but it means inconsistent results. When I’m doing serious video gen or more polished creator visuals I still turn toward Deepmode AI, OurDream, Seduced AI, or Promptchan, depending on what I need.
6. Promptchan
Promptchan is an anime-themed image and character creator with some chat capability. It’s an AI girlfriend tool with an anime bent. You might be familiar with some of the others, or have not seen any of them. Promptchan is an image-focused tool, but it has chat and video too. I like it because it seems very creator-focused, and it’s simple to use.
What are the Promptchan core features
Promptchan is the AI girlfriend tool and character creator for anime and image generation enthusiasts. It has the AI girlfriend, character creator, AI NSFW Image Generator, AI Anime/Cinematic, and AI Video Generation. It’s a mobile app for character creation with voice chat and video generation with a focus on images. It seems very stylized with an anime bent that I like. It doesn’t seem as focused on chat as the others.
It feels more visual than emotional. The chat is there, but the images and character creation seem the most appealing.
How Promptchan exceeds Deepmode AI
I sometimes think Promptchan seems a little more speedy for a user who just wants to quickly play around with a character, generate an image, and have a few variations of style. It doesn’t seem as though you have to do a lot of work building and tweaking the model.
Promptchan also seems to have a bit of an edge in variety of the visual style produced. If it’s something anime, or AI girlfriend type visual you’re going after. Deepmode AI feels much more structured, Promptchan feels a little more haphazard.
The downsides with Promptchan
I think Promptchan is probably not the best selection if you’re trying for an extended companion experience or a long-term memory simulation of a relationship. It seems much more to be about character/visuals creation than a softer more personal companion type service.
Also, Promptchan appears to suffer from the same problems all visual generators do in that if your prompt isn’t clear and specific, you will just get what amounts to a hallucinated picture.
Who’s This For?
- Want someone to settle down with? Candy AI, OurDream, MyDreamCompanion or GirlfriendGPT might be worth a closer look. These are more focused on chat, remembering things, and looping around being present.
- Here for the pictures? Deepmode AI, Seduced AI, OurDream and Promptchan would be near the top of my list for those apps where images are an essential element, not a bandage-taped and hope-filled afterthought.
- Care about video? Deepmode AI, OurDream, Seduced AI, Candy AI and Promptchan. Video is still often the final frontier, but these apps at least include it.
- Like voice? Candy AI and OurDream seem safer. GirlfriendGPT has voice, too, whereas others mention it in passing or just don’t include it as a main feature.
- Enjoy roleplaying with a wide assortment of characters? GirlfriendGPT, MyDreamCompanion, OurDream and Promptchan have a larger selection of characters and scenarios. Expect to be surprised by how many categories there are when you start browsing.
- Don’t like fiddly interfaces? Candy AI looks the least complicated for first-timers. Deepmode AI is also easy to use, though it feels a bit more for creators, so prepare to create rather than just chat.
Mini Methodology
- How we tested We took the tool as it exists now, the actual live experience, and saw what it feels like to have a chat, build a character, and then switch into image, video, and voice generation.
- What we considered We looked at chat experience, character fidelity and customization, media quality, the range of available models, whether video and voice are supported, and if there are any irritating UI bugs.
- What we ignored We didn’t get too hung up on one-time promotional offers or do the price math. You never know how fast credits will run out.
Bottom Line
If you are someone I wanted to recommend an AI dating site to I would suggest Candy AI. In my opinion it has the cleanest overall chat experience and the most refined custom companion, image, video and voice experience. It also offers the most secure UI to be honest. While it’s not the most feature rich creator suite out there compared to other apps, it is the only one I would recommend to a lot of people without a 20 minute explanation.
If you are a power user, OurDream is your app. OurDream is a great example of the app wanting to create your dream companion in a more grand sense. If you want to experience even more features and content such as voice calls, more images and videos, etc then OurDream is the place for you.
Deepmode AI is totally worth a try and is well deserving of your attention I feel, you should really look into this if you are looking to manage and retain characters better while you create AI clones and produce images and videos instead of a softer chat like experience.
