Muah AI Alternatives Compared: Chat, Images, Video, Voice & More
To test Muah AI, I took it for a spin alongside several popular AI companion apps, as this is a pretty wild sector to navigate. With one app being a chat-first app and the rest mostly being images and one or two being video apps, it’s hard to even know where to start when you don’t know who’s doing the best thing.
I tested Muah AI alongside Candy AI, OurDream, MyDreamCompanion, Promptchan, Seduced AI, and GirlfriendGPT so that I could decide which apps felt like real companions, which apps were best for media, and which apps left me feeling like, “That’s neat, but, uh, why is that button blue?”
Here’s the quick version. Think of this more like my own personal notes on my experience, what each app feels like, and what features stand out (or what features are confusing).

It’s a service for making AI characters. It lets you have uncensored chats, create characters with custom voices, exchange pictures and videos, and make audio calls in real time.
The focus here is very direct: make your perfect AI companion, chat with it, exchange pictures/videos/voice, and maintain the conversation.
Rather than being another slick dating sim, Muah AI offers more of a raw companion playground; it has some rough edges here and there, but it’s built around a core concept of private AI companionship with more freedom for the voice and chat aspects.
So, what are the core features of Muah AI?
Muah AI allows you to build and tweak your own AI companion, chat with virtually no filtering, share or send AI-generated images, try out voice interactions, and make real-time phone calls if you choose one of the higher plans.
On top of that, you also get some photo-related extras, like enhanced AI image generation and X-Ray-style features. It’s not quite as polished on that front as some of the creator-first applications we’ve discussed, but at the very least, you don’t have to miss out on any photo-based fun.
Overall, the best parts of Muah AI are what you’d expect: chat and voice. You get to create your custom AI, chat and interact with it on an ongoing basis, share or request photos from it, and make the calls.
It all feels a bit early-internet-cousin-shows-up-to-dinner in terms of UI, but Muah AI makes its companionship feel just as personal as any of its competitors.
Here’s where it performs above its other options.
This AI makes the best companion when I want to be able to reach it in multiple ways. Chat is the obvious starting point here. But being able to exchange photos with your AI, talk to it, and have real-time phone calls really elevates your AI relationship in ways that text-only or photo-only tools don’t.
It also excels in freedom. Much of the Muah AI appeal is built around customization and a lack of heavy filtering, so it feels more unbound than some of the more curated options out there.
This is a feature if you want to craft an AI’s character and have more freedom over what conversations you have.
The real surprise for me with Muah AI is the phone call. While I think Candy AI and OurDream have a more polished overall vibe when it comes to voice, Muah AI does the best job at making voice calls feel a more integral part of the AI’s fantasy.
It’s obviously not the slickest UI of these apps. But does it still have a kind of gritty appeal? Unfortunately, yes.
1. Candy
Candy AI strikes me as a refined experience that is easy to dive into. From the very first click, the app seems designed to ease you in: select your character, tailor the interaction style, begin talking, and only then venture into image, voice, or video functions.
Relative to Muah AI, Candy AI appears significantly cleaner and more guided. If Muah is a free-for-all sandbox, Candy AI is a room cleaned up by a maid before you arrived.
Candy AI: Key Features
The core of Candy AI is built around custom AI chat companions, or ready-made, lifelike characters, who can talk, generate pictures, speak vocally, and even appear in video.
In the character creator you can select appearance, set their voice, pick their personality, and enter other personal details, which makes the character build feel user-friendly instead of technical.
One of the best things is that Candy AI has discreet billing and privacy settings front and center. I am sure you do not want to find out you are on the monthly after the first night, and Candy AI tries to keep that from happening.
What Candy AI does better than Muah AI
Candy AI has better polish and usability, and if I was going to recommend one product to a novice, it would probably be Candy AI because of its ease of use and because explaining how it works seems to be less of an effort for beginners.
Candy AI also feels like a more balanced all-around product. While Muah AI scored points for its voice and flexibility, Candy AI has better polish on its chatting, image and video content creation, customizations, and privacy options.
What are the downfalls of Candy AI?
Candy AI feels more restricted than Muah AI in some ways. While its guided approach to chatting is excellent, Muah AI will probably seem less limiting if you prefer a wider range of freedom and a more experimental approach to your companion.
You should probably try to understand the nuances of its voice or video options before you buy because terms like that will mean very different things with other companion AIs. No one wants to purchase a companion AI that has a voice and realize it’s not a voice they’re looking for.

2. OurDream
In my eyes, OurDream is an all-in-one solution that brings everything together. When I started using it, I could tell it came fully stocked. The app offers custom AI companions, detailed character customization, roleplay controls, image generation, AI video, real-time voice calls, memories, group chats, and public characters.
To me, OurDream has a more structured vibe. On the other hand, Muah AI leans scrappier and is more voice-first, whereas OurDream feels like its own world where you can tweak settings to your liking.
What are the OurDream features?
The platform has a wide variety of features at its disposal, so users will surely find one that piques their interest. Users can create a companion AI with a personality, appearance, history, voice, relationship parameters, and more.
You get NSFW chat, image generation, video generation, real-time voice calls, audio messages, pinned memories, auto memory, public characters, and group chats.
Plus, it uses Dreamcoins to buy extras like images, video, voice calls, and audio messages. It offers a feature-packed experience, which can be fun. However, with that comes the occasional pause for the thought, “Wait…How many Dreamcoins did I just spend?”
What it does better than Muah AI
In fact, OurDream really shines as a full-featured companion platform. In the instance you want one place with everything from chat, image and video generation, voice calling, memory, public characters and more, then OurDream is a clear winner.
Another point in favor of OurDream is that it offers a better platform for roleplay. While Muah AI gives a high level of creative freedom, OurDream offers many tools and features, such as memory, group roleplaying, preferred responses, and choosing the model, to help you in your roleplay sessions.
Some Cons of OurDream
However, if you’re only looking for a conversational partner, then OurDream may be too complex for your liking. There are just so many features available that the app will try to constantly get you to use its tools, even when you just want to talk.
Also, there seems to be a higher level of restrictions on OurDream when compared to Muah AI. If you plan on using any video generation tools or having long conversations by voice, then you may be much more concerned with the number of credits given.

3. MyDreamCompanion
Compared to the likes of Muah AI, this is slightly more character focused and less about a huge feature list. MyDreamCompanion is a companion that you are trying to get to know and interact.
MyDreamCompanion, while not as good as Muah AI in terms of freedom and having a phone, is more emotional. With our DreamCompanion it is about creating a consistency and keeping that companion fantasy alive.
MyDreamCompanion main features include creating your own AI girlfriend / boyfriend and creating their image and character. Talk to your partner and have NSFW chats, as well as making AI images in exchange for Dream Coins. The AI is focused heavily on emotion, creating a narrative with the images as well as setting the mood for your character.
The core loop is making a partner, talking, and expanding with images. This is not as good as Muah AI, OurDream or Candy AI when it comes to voice and video, but the game plan is more streamlined to that goal.
What does Muah AI do better than MyDreamCompanion
MyDreamCompanion will do a better job if you’re into a more emotionally clean, companion-focused experience. The whole thing feels less scattered, and the experience is more tightly focused on being with one companion.
MyDreamCompanion has a more coherent visual storytelling vibe. Yes, Muah AI has images, but MyDreamCompanion does a much better job of tying its images into the concept of your companion as part of the story.
What are the limitations of MyDreamCompanion
MyDreamCompanion doesn’t do as well with voice and real-time calling. If you’re focused on the concept of calling an AI, Muah AI is your best bet.
MyDreamCompanion is more of a narrow multimedia experience. This can work to its advantage, but if you’re looking for voice + calling + video + photo exchange, with lots of experimental controls to boot, you might want to look at Muah AI and OurDream instead.

4. Promptchan
Promptchan represents the visual aspect of the pair. Its primary focus is AI girl friend chat, yet it also provides you with the ability to produce images, movies, voice recordings, and the generation of characters.
Upon opening Promptchan, the first thought that arises is, “what would I want to generate?” Promptchan presents a more visually appealing, media-centric approach as compared to Muah AI. While Muah AI is essentially an AI girlfriend, Promptchan is more of a character creator that chats back.
Promptchan Features
Promptchan allows for open ended chatting to AI girlfriends, the customization and creation of AI girl friend characters, image generation, video generation, use of voice, and many different visual styles ranging from anime to cinematic to art etc.
If you are more into the prompt based character generation of these models then you will be more inclined to Promptchan. It doesn’t quite feel “Emotional” AI. True you can chat and role play, but the image and video side is much louder and much more prevalent.
Why Promptchan Can Do Better Than Muah AI
The promptchan app makes a great feeling while designing an image or even a video, far exceeding Muah AI in that area. The real advantage is that you can produce a character and make images from it. If you’re looking to learn about a variety of different kinds of styles, promptchan can assist you there as well.
Muah AI is the better pick if you want a chat and voice that is constantly going on, but promptchan is the one you should go with if you want to begin with a promptable photo and build a tale around it.
What is Bad About Promptchan
Muah AI offers a far more “companion first” service than Promptchan does. While using these media tools can be entertaining, Muah AI will feel more personalized if you want a daily AI chat and voice partner.
And if you are used to being very persistent, promptchan is for you. Because if you like playing around, then go ahead; however, if you want to lay back on the sofa and chat at the end of the day after work, it’ll seem more as though you’ve been given a paintbrush.
5. Seduced AI
Of the four platforms, Seduced AI is arguably the furthest away from being a “companion” tool. It is actually a lot like an adult visual generation engine, which, quite frankly, makes it simpler to grasp.
I wouldn’t start the Seduced AI engine if I was looking for a little comfort or something to talk to before I fall asleep. I’d only ever log into the platform to generate NSFW images with some agency over the output. Different mood, different tool.
Seduced AI Core Features
The main features of Seduced AI are NSFW image and video creation, discovering new prompts, model control, extensions, replication, and creator pipelines. The docs are very much focused on creating and perfecting visual content, rather than creating a relationship with the AI.
Clearly, Seduced AI is more about the creation of media content rather than the emotional connection like Muah. It’s not about comfort; it’s about creating, modifying and refining scenes.
What distinguishes Seduced AI from Muah AI?
Seduced AI is the clear leader in the field of NSFW photo and video generation. It is explicitly designed for generating images, not chatbot companionship.
Seduced AI also offers you more control, with an impressive library of extensions, model fine-tuning, and a generation pipeline. Muah AI offers you a chatbot girlfriend. Seduced AI offers you an entire studio.
What are the limitations of the Seduced AI
The downside to Seduced AI is that it misses that social and emotional component. You get no feeling of companionship, it isn’t well suited for extended conversations, memory, or even a relationship dynamic.
In a way, to a normal user, Seduced AI might seem rather cold and utilitarian. If you are looking for a girlfriend, Seduced AI has a lot to learn. If you are looking for a platform that will churn out adult visuals, we speak the same language.
6. GirlfriendGPT
GirlfriendGPT is an AI companion platform centered around roleplaying with customizable, fantasy-driven partners. GirlfriendGPT shares the most similar purpose and goals with Muah AI than with Seduced AI.
The biggest difference is how GirlfriendGPT is centered more towards a variety of characters and how to create role-playing fantasies while Muah AI focuses more on unrestricted chatting with image and audio messaging.
GirlfriendGPT’s Features
You are able to create an AI girlfriend with unique looks and personalities with whom you can converse and text with each other with (unlimited messaging for premium users).
Additionally, you are able to pay with your own real money to send and receive images and videos, generate images from text prompts, generate videos and listen to voice messages, and have phone conversations with each other. GirlfriendGPT also encourages private and discreet payments as a means of anonymous service usage.
Essentially, GirlfriendGPT is trying to merge the best aspects of roleplaying, imagery, and conversing with a companion without getting too bogged down in details and extra features. While GirlfriendGPT may not be quite as media-centric as Seduced AI, it certainly offers more than just standard chatting.
How GirlfriendGPT Stands Out from Muah AI
If you’re searching for a more polished AI girlfriend fantasy, including extensive character customization, diverse media features, and openly accessible privacy policies, GirlfriendGPT could be a stronger option and a far more relatable experience for the general public.
GirlfriendGPT is also a better choice if you’re looking for character variety and more romantic companion options. While Muah AI offers voice freedom, GirlfriendGPT offers a much more curated experience.
What GirlfriendGPT Lacks?
GirlfriendGPT lacks some level of audio quality, and the creators are fully aware of that by stating that text chat should be preferred. So, if voice capability is a primary feature you’re looking for when signing up, you might prefer Muah.
GirlfriendGPT is somewhere of in-between; it’s not as simplistic as Candy AI, not as elaborate as OurDream, not as visually specific as Seduced AI and Promptchan. So it’s great, but not the one-size-fits-all choice.
Who this is for
- If you want a “companion” vibe: MyDreamCompanion, Candy AI, OurDream and GirlfriendGPT. All of these feel more chat-focused and relationship-oriented.
- If images are important to you: Promptchan, Seduced AI, Soulgen, and OurDream (they all make good use of images). This is the world where images start to matter more.
- If you care about video: OurDream, Seduced AI, Soulgen, Candy AI, and Promptchan are more likely to meet your needs. Video is still kind of “a baby giraffe on its first day,” but getting there.
- If voice is important: Candy AI, OurDream, Promptchan, GirlfriendGPT, and Soulgen, all of whom offer (or plan to offer) some form of voice. But again, verify whether it’s real-time calling or pre-recorded messages, as they often have different levels of utility.
- If roleplay matters to you: The two most interesting roleplay tools seem to be OurDream and GirlfriendGPT (browsing and searching, variety of characters, scenarios, etc.) MyDreamCompanion, while a bit simpler, offers good variety.
- If you want the easiest-to-use tools: Candy AI and MyDreamCompanion are your most likely options (simpler interfaces, fewer options to configure and customize).
Methodology
- How I tested: I went about it much as a user would: testing out the create flow, the chat experience, the AI-generated media, the voice and video capabilities, and trying to figure out what each tool is really trying to do.
- What I looked for: I was focused on chat flow and the consistency of the character, along with the level of custom AI, NSFW, and video/image/voice creation capability, the range of AI model options, and the friction from the UI.
- What I disregarded: Small price differences, or “who is at the top” arguments. My time and patience is worth more than these.
Conclusion:
The tool I would recommend to the most amount of people is Candy AI. It’s clean, easy to use, and gives you the ability to chat, customize, generate images, make calls, record videos, keep it private, and pay securely without making your experience feel like just another side quest.
Muah AI is worth mentioning, though, if voice and real-time calls are what you prefer. This app is the most ugly out of the tools, but is also a very reliable companion app with a freedom-focused approach, which will attract many people who want that kind of flexibility.
Second closest to my recommendation is OurDream. If you want the most all-inclusive experience with chat, pictures, videos, voice call, memories, group chats, and lots of control of the characters and personalities, OurDream will be my top recommendation for the power-users.
So, bottom line: Candy AI if you want it simple, Muah AI if you want total freedom with voice, and OurDream if you want all of the features on hand. And that wraps it up; my notes are more disorganized than my browser tabs at this point.
