At this point, I think it’s a bit harder to view Soulgen only as an image generator because everything seems to be more open-ended now: Create a character, tweak the images, create a video, chat with Soulgen, etc.
The feeling is less like a dating simulator and more like, “I want to make an original fantasy character and do stuff with them.” That means that Soulgen could make a lot of sense if you are prioritizing consistency and media creation but also still want to chat.
Core features of Soulgen
Soulgen feels like it has pretty broad functionality. You can make AI characters in realistic or anime styles, create likeness-based images, edit and extend images, and make videos from images or text. You can also have text conversations, create images, make calls, or even create a soulmate using Soul Chat.
This is all kind of like making an AI character studio, but now with a companion attached. That’s fine. Some people are into that whole thing. You’re not just messaging a void; you’re making a character and visuals and then sort of inserting them into other scenes.

I’d suggest this to a beginner since the barrier to entry is low. It has that flirty, romantic, roleplay mode, but no “get an engineering certification” UI to worry about when doing these things.

Customizable companion, chat, voice, images, and video are all things you get with Candy. Create your character and specify his/her appearance, persona, voice, background and the way the character responds to you, then utilize the very same companion in all the above interaction types.

It feels like they really had the engine going.

MyDreamCompanion is more intimate, it’s heavy with character browsing, has a “pick one and get to chat” energy, a lot of emphasis on realistic companion and memory and visual consistency.
This felt less of a flashy multimedia toy and more of a comfort first NSFW roleplay zone. I can see why people like it, sometimes people are alone, sometimes curious, stressed out, sometimes just want someone who is going to remember them instead of disappearing as their attention drifts like a dating app match.

- Images If you want images, I’d check out Soulgen, Seduced AI, and Promptchan. These are geared toward the result rather than the chat process.
- Video If you want video, Soulgen, OurDream, Candy AI, Seduced AI, and Promptchan all have video components to their service. The key distinction is whether it’s more companion-focused or creator-focused.
