Google’s Bard AI Could Change Call Screening on Your Phone

In today’s world, mobile phones have become an essential part of our lives. From communication to entertainment, we rely on our phones for almost everything. However, one of the biggest issues that people still face with their phones is unwanted calls. But what if there was a way to eradicate spam calls? Google may have found a solution in the form of their AI chatbot, Bard.

Bard has been around for a while, but it hasn’t gained as much popularity as ChatGPT. However, recent reports suggest that Google has big plans for this AI chatbot. In fact, Bard could soon be integrated into a range of Google products, including Google Search and your phone.

According to Jonathan Eccles, the group product manager for the Phone by Google app, their team is focused on addressing the big problems still plaguing people’s phones, such as unwanted calls. He believes that AI could be the key to solving this problem, stating that “multi-step, multi-turn conversational AI could open a lot of interesting doors in terms of creating this protective and helpful layer at the front of every incoming call.”

In other words, Bard could eventually be used to screen your calls. This would be a game-changer for anyone who’s tired of receiving spam calls. Instead of manually blocking numbers, Bard could use its AI capabilities to identify and filter out unwanted calls.

There have been hints that Bard is already making its way onto phones. For example, a Bard icon was recently discovered in the beta version of Google Messages. This suggests that Google may be planning to have users text through Bard in the future.

Additionally, there are reports that the Assistant team has shifted to work on Bard. This could mean that upgrades to Call Screen or Direct My Call, both popular tools on Pixel phones for avoiding unwanted calls, could receive Bard integrations in the future.

While it’s unclear when these updates will be available, it’s clear that Google has big plans for its AI chatbot. We might hear more about Bard at Google I/O 2023 in May. One thing is for sure: if Google can successfully integrate Bard into their phones, it could revolutionize the way we screen our calls and make unwanted calls a thing of the past.
