David Guetta: The Future of music is in AI

David Guetta, a chart-topping DJ, has revealed his belief that the future of music lies in AI. Guetta recently experimented with artificial intelligence to add a vocal reminiscent of Eminem’s style to a live performance. Using two AI platforms, the French producer created lyrics and a rap performance in the style of the US star for his show. Guetta has, however, confirmed that he has no plans to commercially release the track.

Improving Music with AI?

In a conversation with the BBC’s music correspondent, Mark Savage, at the Brit Awards, Guetta suggested that the future of music would involve AI, albeit as a tool to create new sounds. He stated, “I’m sure the future of music is in AI. For sure. There’s no doubt. But as a tool.” Guetta thinks that musicians will utilize AI to enhance their musical creations, pointing out that every new musical style emerged from a new technology. Apparently, AI content can come in many forms, including sound and even video.

Guetta won the Best Producer award at the ceremony on Saturday, but he stated that “nothing can replace taste.” He argued that every artist has a specific taste and a particular emotion that they wish to express, and the musician would use modern tools and instruments to accomplish that.

Create viral songs in TikTok

AI has been behind several viral songs on TikTok, with fans using software to make them sound like a different artist is singing them. For instance, last month, Drake’s followers began creating their tracks in the Canadian rapper’s style using an AI generator. However, not everyone is a fan of AI-generated music, with Nick Cave giving a scathing review of an artificial intelligence system that tried to write a song “in the style of Nick Cave” in January.

In Conclusion

Guetta sees AI as a tool that could define new musical genres, much like electric guitars or drum machines have given rise to rock ‘n’ roll, acid house, and hip-hop in the past. He believes that every new musical style will emerge from a new technology, and AI will be the driving force behind future musical innovations.
